Why I deceided to sign up for a half marathon with Leukemia & Lymphoma Society???
1st my mom Jocelyne Brisson has Lymphoma and was diagnosed 3+ years ago and I am doing it in her Honour!
2nd I will be 40 soon and I wanted to do something out of my comfort zone!
3rd I have been toying with the idea of running for a while now after years of seeing patients with sport injuries and being inspired by their stories!
I heard on the radio as I was driving to work about a month ago this really touching add about someone training for a marathon with Team In Training with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. As soon as I got to work I googled " team in training " and signed up right away! I really wanted to do something special for my mother. She, as many others, being diagnosed with cancer had to struggle through a hard time!
I thought I would honour her by doing something that is out of my comfort zone and train to run a half-marathon!
I started my training on May 2nd, 2011 on my mother's birthday!
Having never ran or been a very active person I could barely do 5min of running!
It's been three weeks now and my last two runs or should I say jogs were over 5km in less then one hour!
For those of you who are runners you might be giggling or laughing... but for me it's a HUGE accomplishment!
Anyways... I will be posting weekly on this blog to keep you informed!
Please consider sponsoring me!
